If you're like me, you find yourself asking yourself this question more and more these days. Surprisingly you're probably also finding out that you don't need what ever it was you were questioning and really wonder why the heck you spent your hard earned money on the item/service in the first place.
I am first to admit, I am old school by todays standards. I find myself resisting new trends.... well alot of times I do. On many others I embrace them almost imediately. Why? Well, alot of stuff I see just seems like useless junk just there to soak up your hard earned cash. Example? Warranties. For the most part they are worthless. Usually the part that breaks and wipes out all of the parts that are covered...is not covered. Another example...one you, like me might find hard to break away from...is the LAND PHONE LINE in your house. If you and all of your other family members have a cell phone that has free long distance....why do you pay 40-100 bucks a month for a land line ???
I am finding this one very hard to break away from. I guess because I can remember family members- neighbors that did not have phones when I was a kid. That, or they had a party line. Yeah, you remember party lines? Everytime you had to use the phone you would pick it up and it was in use... I never really understood that one either.
The phone company is not very understanding. I have talked to them several times and told them do they have a service for about 19.95 a month? I would keep the land line just for emergencies, I mean after all I never get any calls on this line now anyway. When I do I know its salesman calling.....but no....they have to gouge you with fees...taxes.State & city, county taxes. Over & under use fees. Its a money grab now. Sad. So Sad
So I ask myself......do I really need this. You know the answer to this question. If companies have reviewed your account and decided you need to pay more....review theirs and see if you can loose them altogether. If you are like me, you will be really surprised by all of the excesses you can get rid of!
